Jack Buffie

June 30, 1946 – July 10, 2016

Predeceased by his loving wife, Wendy, in 2011; Jack is survived by his daughters, Shauna, Leanna (Jason), and Shaelene (Rich), and his grandchildren, Dominique, Drey, Kade, and Finn. Jack will be missed by his sister, Donna, and his brothers, Tom and Doug. He had many close family and friends who will feel a void in their hearts, as will his gentle dog, Meesha.

Born and raised in Port Alberni, Jack was actively and passionately involved in numerous community events and fundraisers over the years; most recently acting as a Director with the Fir Park/Echo Village Foundation. Jack will be missed for his gregarious personality, quick laugh, a good homemade sandwich with fresh bread, and his “Good afternoon, Jack here” phone response, no matter the time of the day!

A special thank you to Ty Watson House and the wonderful staff and volunteers who made his last weeks so comfortable and full of care.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Chapel of Memories, 4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC, with a reception to follow at the Alberni Valley United Church, 3747 Church Street, Port Alberni, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s name can be made to Fir Park/Echo Village Foundation’s bus fund, 4411 Wallace Street, Port Alberni, BC, V9Y 7Y5, or to the Alberni Valley Hospice Society’s Ty Watson House, 3088 3rd Avenue, Port Alberni, BC, V9Y 2A5.
