Jane Nicholson

Eleanor Jane Nicholson was born on August 13, 1945, and passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 81. A resident of Port Alberni, British Columbia, Jane was raised in Hanover and lived in Toronto and Durham Ontario.

After attending Alma College in St. Thomas Ontario (63-64) Jane accepted a position at Canada's High Commission in London, UK and in Lagos,Nigeria. Later while working for Intergovernmental Affairs, Jane met the Irish sparkle of her life, Arnold Gillespie from Belfast,Ireland (deceased 2014 in Port Alberni).

An avid gardener and fisherman, she and Arnie shared a quiet companionship and steady devotion marked their life together.

Jane will be missed and fondly remembered by the Jeffries Family, sister Judy, brother-in-law John; Michael Jeffries and Izabella Krzyskow, Heather Jeffries and Remi Doiron, Bryce Jeffries and Meaghan Nancekeville. One brother Reg Nicholson and wife Colleen, Callie Nicholson and Carina Best and families, Margot Simpson and Malcolm Aberle.

Jane was predeceased by her parents Ken and Joan Nicholson, sister Leslie Aberle, brother-in-law Neil Aberle, and a younger brother in infancy, Frankie.

A scattering of both Eleanor Jane's and Arnie's ashes will take place at a later date.
