John David Hines

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved John who passed away on September 11, 2025. Predeceased by his mother Sharon in 2020. John will lovingly be remembered by his father David, sister Lisa (Shane), brother Paul (Simone), nieces Kayla (Charles) and Courtney (Kyran), nephews Jett and Cruz, great nephew Rhys, great niece Maddison, and all who knew him.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, on August 22, 1968, John moved to Port Alberni in 1980 and graduated from A.D.S.S. in 1987. He delivered for the AV News for many years and happily retired in 2020. John was known for his sense of humour, love of music, singing, dancing, and his joy in going on trips. He had a gentle love for animals, and was a familiar face in the community, always sharing a warm hello wherever he went. John’s joyful spirit will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at 5th Ave House and Barrett and Mak Programs Inc. Special thanks to Kelly Maxwell, Smokey Turner & Bill Goodwin for their amazing support through the years.

John’s Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday November 9, 2025 from 1-3pm at 4207 Southgate Rd. Port Alberni. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's honour to the local SPCA.
