He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years Jeanette, Brother Herb Maldaner, Sister Violet Murray and Father Mike Maldaner.
Survived by his Children Debb Rayburn (Peter) Katherine Maldaner, Robb Maldaner (Michelle), Grandchildren Tareen Rayburn, Andrea Rayburn, Shelby Maldaner, Darby Maldaner and great grandchildren Aydan Clark and Payton Lucas and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Edam Saskatchewan and raised on the mainland, Karl arrived in Alberni Valley in 1957 where he worked at the pulp mill and raised his family.
A member of the Alberni Valley Rock & Gem Club for 52 years. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with everyone he met.
Karl was also a founding member of the paper makers Local 686 Retires Club.
Karl believed a little kindness goes a long way and proved it every day, touching the lives of so many people whether for just a moment or for a lifetime.
He will be greatly missed
