With broken hearts, we share that our beautiful mother, Marianne Rita Walters, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of January 24, 2026, at her home in Port Alberni, BC surrounded by love. She was 69 years old.
Marianne was the heart of our family. Her infectious laughter filled a room, and her radiant smile brightened even the darkest day. She had a sense of humour like no other and found joy in bringing people together. Whether it was a holiday, a family gathering, or a simple visit, she made every moment feel special.
Marianne was loving, caring, and endlessly giving — truly the sweetest soul anyone could meet. She had a heart of gold and a spirit full of kindness. She would give the shirt off her back to make sure someone else wasn’t without. Strong and independent, yet gentle in her love, her generosity knew no limits.
The world feels quieter without her laughter, and our lives feel emptier without her presence. But the love she gave so freely will live on in all of us — in the stories we share, the traditions we carry forward, and the way we choose kindness because she taught us how.
She will be forever cherished and deeply missed by her daughter, Jennifer; son, Jon-Mykel; grandson, Roman; sisters, Adrienne, Joanne, and Shirley; brothers, Doug, Charlie, and Larry; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Marianne was predeceased by her loving parents, John and Rita Gladu.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ty Watson House Port Alberni or the Parkinsons Association of Alberta
