My memories of Milton make me smile.  My earliest memory is from the spring of 1992 when Milton and Mary both came over to welcome us to the neighborhood. Monty and I watched them from our living room window and exclaimed, almost at the same time, "I know him!"  "I know her!"  We both worked with them at either the Somass Mill or the Paper Mill.  It was such a treat to be welcomed like that.  
One summer we were talking with Milton about the 'trail' around the front of our house over to Milton and Betty's house.  What in the world?  Milton laughed!  "Look! Its the trail Razz and Ozzie had made on their way to his place for biscuits!" Razz used to stick his nose in Milton's shirt pocket, sniff out the biscuits & pull one out!  Later, it would be Annie and Razz sitting on their front yard, watching for Milton to come out.
After the loss of my husband, Milton was 'on call'.  I remember one day when I thought I could do some plumbing on my own, (what a mistake that was!), Milton came to my rescue.  I had water everywhere in the ensuite bathroom.  Sure enough, he was over here in a flash!  Poor guy was on his knees, cramped between the wall and the toilet, in about 2 inches of cold water.  But he got the job done and I vowed never, again to try plumbing!  
Milton was always bringing over fresh rhubarb, freshly picked Saskatoon berries, or sharing plants/bulbs for my 'friendship garden'.
Doug and I had been spending our winters in California.  Milton  picked up our mail & checked the house, inside and out.  We are so lucky to have him as it gave us peace of mind.

28 years of memories to make me smile
Milton was the best neighbor and friend. We will both miss him...



Our sympathies to you Betty.  What a shock for you. We'll remember fondly your visits to us in Alberta.
