Norris was born on October 4th, 1944 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He trained as a journeyman electrician, starting his career with the Nova Scotia Power Corporation in Trenton, Nova Scotia. In 1974, Norris moved West with his young family to Kitimat, BC to work at the Alcan aluminum smelter. In 1976, Norris and his family settled in Port Alberni, BC where he began working for MacMillan Bloedel at the Somass Division sawmill. He dedicated 30 years of service to the mill, retiring in 2006.
Norris was a salt of the earth, hardworking, man of deep faith. He served faithfully as an elder at Knox Presbyterian Church and spent many years deeply involved with the Presbyterian Men’s Group. He always had the time to work up a friendly conversation with anyone he encountered. Norris was a devoted father who was always involved with his children’s sports. In his later years, he played an instrumental role in supporting his granddaughter Ariana. He will be sorely missed and we will cherish the memories of him as we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and has joined our mother.
A graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 4th 2026 at 1pm at the Greenwood Cemetery where Norris will be laid to rest with his wife.
