Phil was born to parents, Joyce and William Ballan, in Kenora, Ontario and was raised in Cherry Creek in Port Alberni, BC. Phil had a love for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a natural athlete, playing hockey and ball for many years and was an avid golfer later in life.
Phil was well known and respected in the forest industry, where he worked as a log scaler throughout British Columbia.
Phil is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Dawn (Gord) McIntyre and Lacy Ballan (Drew); and by his three granddaughters, Rylee, Skyla and Presley, who meant the world to him. Phil is also survived by his brother, Albert (Gail) Ballan, his nieces and nephew, his girlfriend, Jeannine, and many dear friends and extended family members.
Phil was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Tom Ballan.
Phil will be remembered for his kindness, gratitude and his character – cracking jokes right up until the end.
The family would like to thank Dr. Woodley and team, home care support, and all of the staff at Ty Watson House for providing exceptional care.
You will be forever in our hearts, Dad.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
