Sharon moved to Port Alberni in 1968, continuing her work as a paralegal and doing bookkeeping from home while raising her children. As they grew older, she began working at West Coast General Hospital as the executive assistant to the administrator, a position she held for 18 years before retiring.
In retirement, Sharon remained active and engaged in her community. She volunteered on numerous boards, sang in the choir, and bowled twice a week. She cherished time spent with her family, travelling south with her husband, attending Blue Jays games, and golfing. Her garden was her happy place, and she took great pride in sharing her produce and preserves with neighbours, friends, and family. She loved staying active and was proud of the number of steps she achieved each day.
Sharon touched many lives with her kindness, strength, and love. She lived a full life, rich with adventures and cherished memories.
Sharon is predeceased by her husband Jack in 2022 and step-son, Tim in 2006. Survived by her daughter Claudine, son Robert and step-daughter Barbi (Dean); numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews; also many friends and relations across Canada and the US.
A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharon’s memory to the West Coast General Foundation or the Ty Watson House.
A sincere thanks to the doctors, staff at West Coast General Hospital, palliative care and the staff of Ty Watson House for their amazing supportive care.
