Born in Gorno, Bergamo Italy on December 18, 1937
Silvestro immigrated from Italy to Canada in 1952 with his parents Stefano and Antonia. His father arrived in May 1951, acquired work at Northern Timber Co. Tofino Div. and built a home for his wife and son in Ucluelet, BC. Silvestro married Keiko (Suzie) Oye on April 6, 1962 in Ucluelet, they had 3 sons, Stephen, Francis and Barry.
Silvestro worked in the commercial fishing industry for most of his life, his friends knew him as “Spaghetti”or “Sy". A colourful individual, hard working, a little hay-wire but always generous and willing to lend someone a hand.
In his 'good ol golden years' as he called them with much sarcasm, he worked on the docks at Ukee Ice Ltd until he was 82. Silvestro always managed to have a fish or 10 to give away to friends and family.
