
Ann Marie Schoonover, devoted wife and mother, passed away quietly at her home in Ft. Myers, FL on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 following a long illness. She is the daughter of Herman and Anna Kroez, born in Glendale, NY, where she was reared and educated. As a young lady, she held various secretarial positions. She also became a skilled archer, holding several outdoor archery titles. She married Jack R. Schoonover Sr. on June 18, 1966. Following their marriage, she became a full-time homemaker and was active in her two son's school functions as well as performing volunteer work at two hospitals and maintaining a perfect home. She also assisted in the development of her husband's career. Although slowed by failing health for the past several years, her many firends in Charlotte, Polk and Lee Counties will remember her as a wonderful hostess, a gifted cook, a meticulous housekeeper and a skilled seamstress. She created many beautiful exquisite needlepoint and a variety of other crafts.
Her family includes her husband of 42 years, Judge Jack R. Schoonover, Sr. of the family home; son, Wayne J. Benson and wife Chris of Missoula, MT; and three grandsons, Matthew, Daniel, and Adam, all of CA. She is preceded in death by son, Jack R. Schoonover, Jr., and three brothers, Ed, Harold, and Robert Kroez.
Ann began life as a wonderful daughter and then became and still is, the greatest mother, wife and person that anyone could desire. You've been a blessing in our lives.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Community, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Ft. Myers, FL. The visitation will b held from 9:30 am till 10:15 am at the church, prior to the mass. A private interment will be at a later date. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers or memorials, that you honor Ann's memory by doing something special or unexpected for the one's you love.
