

Barb will be remembered for her humanitarianism, fun loving nature and sense of humor and was adored by all who met her. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and took great pleasure in enjoying the music, dancing and festivals of her culture. She was a social activist in her younger years, marching in Selma, Alabama in support of the Civil Rights Movement and involved in various women's rights and political causes.
An ardent learner, Barb was determined to achieve a college degree. She returned to school at the age of 47 and proudly graduated with honors from Rockland Community College. She then worked as a Therapy Aide for 15 years at the Rockland Psychiatric Hospital before retiring to the Venice area in 2000.
Barb is predeceased by her life partner, Susan, of 43 years and her brother, Earl. She will be greatly missed by her loving sister, Mary Faro, her brothers John, wife Donna, Kevin, wife Judy and Bert, wife Jan, many adoring nieces and nephews and several dear friends, especially Alice and Angie.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday March 7, 2017 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to Tidewell Hospice, at tidewell.org
