

battle with cancer. He was born in Chicago, on September 2, 1925 to Richard and Esther Swatek.
When he was nine months old, the family moved to Moose Lake near Hayward, Wisconsin where his
parents ran a resort called Fin and Feather. At 17, David Joined the Merchant Marines. In 1950,
he enlisted in the army where he was stationed in Korea and Japan.
He married Alice Bausch on November 7, 1954. The couple lived in Hayward, Wisconsin
for many years where David worked as a postal clerk, before retiring in 1984 to Englewood, Florida
and finally to Village on the Isle.
David was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and 40 and 8.
He also was active in the Englewood Elks Club and his churches.
David will be dearly missed by his daughter, Susan (Brian) Thompson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin;
son-in-law, Brett Haise of Madison, Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Dan (Jessica), John, Rachel,
Amanda, and Garrett; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Alice, his daughter, Sandra Haise,
his parents, and his brother, Richard Swatek.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Village on the Isle
in the Renaissance Room. Burial will be at Gulf Pines Memorial Park.
