
George Albert Jenkins was born in Kingston, Jamaica on 05 October 1919. He was the fourth child of Thomas and Diana Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was reared with his three sisters Inez, Maria and Ivy. He attended Calabar Primary School in Kingston. He later attended Kingston Technical High School where he trained to be a machinist. Upon graduating, he took a job working for the school. In Kingston, he met and married his first wife Gwendolyn Patterson and the couple then moved to Mandeville, Jamaica. There he went to work for The Bauxite Company. He and his wife had 4 children, Marjorie, Beverley, Valerie and Michael. He and his family relocated to New York in the 1960's, where he went to work for Polytechnical Institute as an Aerospace Technician. In 1977, Mr. Jenkins married Rubina McNeil. After retiring, they moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1989. George Jenkins is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rubina Jenkins, and his four children as well as 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. George was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte, Florida., With a scripture service at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
