He was born June 26, 1934 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Anna
Ringer. James moved to Virginia in 1953 and retired from Ford Motor Company
after 30 years of service. For a period of time, James was a snow bird, spending
winters in Florida and summers in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He became a full time
Florida resident in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 110 of
Port Charlotte, Florida.
He is survived by his 5 children, Laura Bowen (Richard), James D. Ringer (Jeanne),
Linda Badgley, Paul Ringer (Lin) and Vickie Burford (Scott). He is also survived by
5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his 3 sisters, Mary Lou White of Ringwood,
NJ, Jeanie Fleagle and Barbara Niedentohl of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He is also
survived by his brother, John Ringer of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Daniel H. (Heinz) Ringer;
grandson, William James Bowen and son-in-law, Roy Badgley.
Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M.
at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Inurnment will be private.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Liz and Scotty O'Connell for the
love and devotion expressed to Big Jim who was like a father to them both.
The family request in lieu of flowers that a donation may be made to his favorite charity,
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A Celebration of his life will be held by
his family, immediately following the service at the James E. Ringer Residence.
