Joe, the only son of Dr. Thomas and Elva Fletcher, was born October 22, 1925 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Joyce Alexander, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Joe attended the Ohio College of Podiatry and practiced 39 years in New Castle. During his working years, he served as President of the Pennsylvania Podiatry Association and was an active member of the Lawrence Club, Elks, Lions, VFW, American Legion and the New Castle Country Club. He was also elected to the Neshannock Township School Board. Joe was an avid hunter, sailor, and bridge player.
Upon retiring, he moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, and led an active life traveling and boating. He is survived by his three daughters, Lynne Wetherell of Green Cove Springs, Florida; Dianne Del Pizzo of Fort Myers, Florida; and Jodie Jovenall of Arcadia, Florida; beloved companion, Ginger McMurray; his eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28th, 2009 at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950.
