
LAURA POLLIKOFF KLIGERMAN SIROTA passed away quietly in her sleep on May 31 at the age of 95. She was born in New York City to Russian immigrants, Abraham and Anna Polliakoff (nee Vornchuck) in 1922. She graduated from Music and Art High School in New York City where she played the bassoon. She went to City College of NY and in her later years to Nassau Community College and C.W. Post where she obtained her B.A. Degree and graduated magna cum laude in 1976. She was married to Max Kligerman in 1947 with whom she had two children, Andrew D. Kligerman of Hillsborough, NC and Diane R. Schiff of Indianapolis, Indiana. After Max Kligerman's passing in 1978, she met Leonard Sirota, whom she married in 1984, and who died in 1994. During her later years, she was great friends with Sam Kaplan who passed away in 2018. She always loved music and tennis and was a piano teacher for most of her married life. She was loved and adored by her four grandchildren, Michael and Jason Schiff and Anna and Alice Kligerman as well as her many friends in Florida. She will always be remembered as a loving Mother and Grandmother with a great sense of humor and a warm heart. Services will be held at the Lemon Bay Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to TideWell Hospice in Sarasota, FL in her name.
