
Margaret Hailey Swick, 94, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away peacefully at the Harbour Health Center on February 7, 2012. She was born on March 20, 1917 in Niagara Falls, NY to Andrew and Catherine Hailey. Margaret was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School in Niagara Falls and worked as a secretary for the Carbrundem Corporation until marrying her husband David in 1944, before he went overseas in WWII. They lived in many places throughout the U.S and had friends all across the country. They also enjoyed traveling to Europe and other destinations. After leaving New York, they lived in Missouri, Indiana, Georgia, Massachusetts, Delaware, California, and Michigan, before retiring to Los Angeles. They moved to Florida in 1992 to be closer to family. Margaret was always active in the community, volunteering over the years at the YMCA, various hospitals, libraries and other public organizations. She was a talented painter and enjoyed playing the piano as well.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Marley (Ray) Swick-Ronci of Columbia, Missouri and Tricia (George) Whitlock of Arcadia, FL; a nephew, John Patrick (Jill) Hailey of Lewiston, NY and a cousin, Mike (Cami) O'Connor of Glendale, CA. She is predeceased by her parents, her two younger brothers, Andy and Jim Hailey, whom she dearly loved; her nephews, Danny Hailey and Andrew Hailey Jr; and her beloved husband of 52 years, David E. Swick.
It was Margaret's request that no services be held, just a private family memorial.
