Maria Luisa Casanas 89 of Manhattan Beach, California, formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida, died on December 18, 2006 in Torrance, California. She had been living with her daughter in Manhattan Beach, California for the past 3 years.
She was born on June 4, 1917 in Florida, Puerto Rico and came to Port Charlotte, Florida from New London, Connecticut in 1997. Mrs. Casanas attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hawthorne, California and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic while living in Port Charlotte, Florida.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Minerva Casanas of Manhattan Beach California and Mirtha Maldonado of Port Charlotte, Florida; her son, Salvador Casanas of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico; 3 brothers, Jacinto Perez, Efrain Perez and Benjamin Perez all of Puerto Rico; 4 sisters, Mercedes Garcia, Elvira Perez, Iris Davila and Lidubvina Perez all of Puerto Rico; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Visitation Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Kays-Poner Funeral Home 2405 Harbor Blvd. Port Charlotte. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 A.M. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Burial will be in Royal Palm Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Florida.
