Donald A. Simmons, 82, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away peacefully Friday July 17, 2015. He was born March 17, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN to Arvid and Helen (Rodewald) Simmons. Don was married to his beloved wife Susanne for 57 wonderful years. Don served in the Navy during the Korean War as a navigator in the Naval Air and later as an instructor in the Navy Reserves. He worked for Hartford Insurance Company in Mn as an underwriter and moved on to sales with Liberty Mutual in MN, and transferred to Illinois in sales management. He later partnered in a multi-lined insurance agency in Edina MN. Upon retirement, he enjoyed being a school bus driver in Osseo, MN and Cape Coral, Fl. He loved children and became a well liked school crossing guard in Port Charlotte, FL. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and all those touched by his warmth and humor. He is survived by his loving wife Susanne, and three children, Tammra Kistner-Simmons, Donald R. (Lori), and Lisa (Jeffrey) Nat. He has 8 wonderful grandchildren, and 8 wonderful great-grandchildren.
