Words fall short of describing her friendship, kindness, caring, curiosity, and just how wonderful she really was. Nourising people around her with love, faith, and music.
She was born in Miami April 11, 1944 to Pollard and Eula May brooks. Growing up in a loving family with her brothers Leonard and Herald, and her sister Cheryl. She would be a compassionate and loving person that was cherished by her family and friends.
Dorothy’s story would not be complete without her husband of 48 years, Tom Pinder. They moved from Miami to Punta Gorda. They would build a home and start a family. Over the years they would traveled making new friends and memories. Their laughter and zest for life was always admired by others they met along the way. Her husband often said â€?"she was love at first sight.â€
Her love of children made her a magnificent mother. In addition to raising two children she was also a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and the kissy monster. She was not just a mother to her children; she was also their best friend and cheerleader. She was always there when her kids needed her, and even when they didn’t know it. As she transitioned into the role of World’s Best Grandma she would learn the true art of how to spoil her adored grandson.
Her life’s work was centered on helping people. She was a nurse and caregiver for over 25 years. She was active in her church and other volunteer services throughout her lifetime. Her involvement with many organizations including the American Cancer Society, Punta Gorda Rotary & Rotary Ann’s, and many other charities let her give back to the community that she loved.
Her hobbies were sewing, painting, music, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to sing and play guitar as well as sing in the choir. She was an accomplished seamstress, often making her own fashions.
