

Norman R. Dahlstrom, 86 years, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Windsor, CT. and Succasunna, NJ., died on November 6, 2010. Norm was the son of Thea and John Dahlstrom of Elmwood, CT. He was predeceased by a brother Harry and sister Miriam Carlson. He leaves a brother Irving of North Carolina. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Audrey; son David(Joan) of Vernon, CT; daughters Karen(Martin) Margagnoni of Marlborough, MA; Nancy(Mark) Champlin of Windsor, CT; Judy(Greg) Jaeger of Orlando, FL. and Diane(Gary) Brennan of Randolph, NJ. A son Robert predeceased Norm. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Norm was a graduate of William Hall H.S. in West Hartford, CT and went on to receive a degree in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Upon graduation, he was employed at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT, but spent most of his career as Sales Manager of Howmet Corp. in Dover, NJ. During WWII, Norm flew B-17s and was shot down over Cologne, Germany on October 15, 1944. He remained a prisoner of war until the end of the conflict.
During his lifelong love of flying, Norm owned several Cessnas and an Piel Emeraude, which he spent 37 years building. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Venice Aviation Society, Inc. and the New Jerseyans of Florida. Norm was involved with the EAA Young Eagles and gave many airplane rides to youths through this program.
