Orlando A Doria

Orlando A Doria, age 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023. He was born in Colombia, S.A. on May 11, 1932. Orlando obtained his doctorate in medicine from the University of Cartagena, Colombia. He then obtained a medical specialty in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Outside of his duties as a family man and medical doctor, he also was the founder of Cartamedas, the Cartagena Medical Association in Chicago; he was the former President of the Harbor Heights Rotary Club; former President of the Charlotte County Medical Association; the founder of the Port Charlotte chapter of ASOCOL, Colombian Association; founder of an Alzheimer Support Group in Charlotte County; a founder of the Rehabilitation Wing at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL; a founding member of the Virginia Andes Community Clinic; a volunteer member and clinician of Health Department in Arcadia, FL; a team member of Doctors Without Borders who was privileged to deploy multiple times; benefactor of the children’s library in his hometown of Nariño, Colombia; and a volunteer doctor for the PCHS Football team. Orlando's hobbies included traveling with his wife, reading, walking, dancing, spending time with his grandchildren, and genealogy which lead to his authoring a book about the Doria family's genealogy.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church 1441 Spear St Port Charlotte, FL 33948.

He is survived by Emperatriz Doria, wife of 54 years, Orlando Ramírez, son, Peggy Ferreri, daughter, (Robert), Ivette Doria, daughter, (Nestor), Yolanda Segal, daughter, (Michael). Grandchildren: Orlando, Michael, Anthony, Gino, Sonia and Tobias.
