

Peggy J. Floyd, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025.
Peggy spent her childhood in Brownsville, Indiana, and later made her home in Richmond, Indiana, until retiring to North Port, Florida. She began her career as a licensed cosmetologist before finding her true calling as a CNA at Richmond State Hospital, where she dedicated many years of service and was an active member of the AFSCME Union.
Peggy is survived by her partner of 40 years, Sandra Vanderbeck; her children, Tina Floyd and Clint Floyd (Amanda Thompson); her six grandchildren, Lilly Snodgrass, Leighton Snodgrass, Eli Biddle, Ty Biddle, Adreannah Floyd, and Dayne Thompson; her great granddaughter, Aggie Biddle and her sister, Brenda Hensler of Dayton, Ohio.
Peggy was known for her kind, sassy, and classy spirit. Her warm, gentle soul, infectious laugh, and radiant smile could light up any room. She found joy in gardening and was a devoted QVC shopper. She loved to travel, explore the beaches of Florida, and hunt for shells along the shore. A proud lifelong Democrat, Peggy was never shy about her beliefs – she bled blue through and through.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Stan Hudson and her beloved dog Bailey.
Peggy’s family and friends will remember her for the love she gave so freely and the laughter she brought wherever she went. She will be deeply missed.
