Richard "Keith" Christopher, known affectionately as Keith to all, was called to his eternal rest on August 31, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on September 27, 1952, in the humble town of Graham, North Carolina, Keith was a beacon of light and joy to everyone who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
Keith's journey on this earth concluded in the warm embrace of North Port, Florida, surrounded by the love and prayers of his cherished family. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his devoted wife of over 40 years, Janice, and their three children: David, Todd, and his wife Amber, and Lori and her husband Mike Andrews. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of his beloved grandchildren—Trace, Bryn, Bryce, Casyn, Bryce, Kazmon, and Indie—who will carry forward his zest for life and his boundless love.
He was a brother not only in blood but in heart to Anita and her husband Jim Dawkins, and Janet and her husband Tom Barnett. Keith also shared a special bond with his brothers-in-law, Raleigh and his wife Linda Hunt, and Roger and his wife Patty Hunt, who will miss his spirited presence dearly.
For 44 years, Keith served as the Director of Program and Properties for the Boy Scouts of America, shaping the lives of young men with his wisdom and unwavering commitment to character. His dedication to nurturing the next generation was paralleled only by his devotion to his faith community. As a Sunday school teacher, he poured his heart into the lives of those at the Fearless Church of Port Charlotte, sharing the love of the Lord with a faith that moved mountains.
Keith's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. An avid reader, he found solace and adventure in the pages of James Patterson novels. His greatest joy, however, was found in the laughter and stories shared with his children and grandchildren. He was the mastermind behind the family trips that will forever be etched in their memories, a man who knew that the true treasure of life was time spent with loved ones.
Not one to shy away from the spotlight, Keith's karaoke parties were legendary, filled with song, dance, and the kind of merriment that warms the soul. His generous spirit extended beyond his family as he supported his son David with the Cryo-Eze Spring Hill Foundation, an organization dedicated to aiding wounded veterans—a cause close to Keith's heart.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Keith, let us not mourn as those without hope, but let us celebrate a life well-lived, a race well-run, and a faith well-kept. His story does not end here, for he has entered the Kingdom of Heaven, where he will surely hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
May the life of Richard "Keith" Christopher inspire us all to live with the same passion, dedication, and love that he embodied. And as we continue on our own paths, may we carry his memory in our hearts, living out the lessons he taught us through his example. Rest in peace, dear Keith, until we meet again on that glorious shore.
