Rosalie “Rosie” Smith was born on September 28, 1960, to Gilbert and Joyce Smith at Hanbury Road, Manchester, Jamaica. In April 1991, Rosie migrated to Port Charlotte, Florida, where she pursued a career in nursing.
By 1992, she completed the CNA program at Charlotte Vocational Center (now Charlotte Technical College) and began working at Medical Center Hospital in Punta Gorda. In 1993, she graduated from the LPN program at Charlotte Technical College and continued her dedicated service at the hospital until 2017. She later worked at Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center in Punta Gorda.
Rosie was known for her jovial spirit, kind heart, and unwavering willingness to help others.
On April 9, 2025, Rosie peacefully made her transition at HCA Fawcett Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and is survived by her sister, brother, nieces, nephew, and a host of extended family and friends.
