Stephen S. Ashley, 98, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL died June 29, 2008 in Miami, FL. He was born September 9, 1909 in Panama. He immigrated to New York from Panama in 1957 and worked as a Subway Train Operator for the New York City Transit Authority till retiring in 1975. He moved to this area in 1975 from the Bronx. Mr. Ashley was a family man who enjoyed watching the horse races, and volunteering with Meals On Wheels.
He is survived by his daughter, Ana Josepheus Johnson of Miami, FL; granddaughter, Yolanda Turner and great grandson, Bryan Rhoden, both of Decatur, GA as well as scores of nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his wife of 53 years, Winifred Titus Ashley in 1998.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am till 11:00 am, Thursday July 3, 2008 at the Kays, Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Pt Charlotte, FL. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
