Suzanne Leckey White, born on February 18, 1947, passed suddenly on September 26, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend to many.
Suzanne married her best friend and lifelong companion, Gary White, and together they shared 58 years of constant love, support, and companionship. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was especially proud of her children. She is survived by her husband, Gary; her two children: Kristin (James); Andrew (Maria), and three wonderful grandchildren, Matthew, Mackenzie, and Aiden.
Her greatest sorrow was the loss of her two teenage sons, Todd and Matthew, whom she devoted many years to caring for during their illnesses. Suzanne is also survived by her sisters Karen, Joanne (Kevin), and Patricia (Richard), and many wonderful and accomplished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers William and John.
Suzanne cherished visiting her grandchildren and taking pride in watching their achievements unfold, always eager to celebrate their milestones. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
A lifelong educator, Suzanne dedicated her career to shaping young minds. She attended high school at Ursuline Academy in New Rochelle, NY, earned her college degree from Newton College of the Sacred Heart (Boston College), and obtained a Master’s in Education from Westfield State.
She spent nearly 25 years teaching in the Longmeadow, Massachusetts, public education system, as well as over a decade serving as a substitute teacher in the Sarasota public school system in Florida. She inspired generations of students with her kindness, patience, and dedication.
For the past 18 years, Suzanne lived in Riverwood Golf Community in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was a devourer of books, reading multiple novels each week, always eager to immerse herself in new stories and ideas. Between novels, Suzanne would crush candies with the best of them.
She was meticulous in her home and garden upkeep, rivaling the likes of Martha Stewart. Over the years, she shared her home with a number of furry four-legged pets (shout out to Brody, Jake, and Amy), whom she loved dearly and cherished as family.
Suzanne’s love for life, her family, and her pets will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who loved her.
Following cremation, the family will hold a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Hemophilia Association (www.bleeding.org).
