
Thomas Edward Massaro, 70, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away December 10, 2009. He was born in Youngstown OH, October 10, 1939, the son of Dominic and Helen Massaro. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson in 1957, Tom later served in the Marine Corps. He worked as a supervisor at East Ohio Gas Company in Youngstown, Ohio for over 30 years before retiring to Punta Gorda, Florida. Tom is remembered for his kind spirit, likeable personality, and great sense of humor, which did not dim as he battled Parkinson's Disease. Tom loved playing sports, coaching his children's teams and watching his favorite Ohio teams. Tom left a wonderful legacy for his family, and friends. Everyone who met Tom loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Bonnie, two sisters, Judy and Patty, two sons, Tom and Mark, daughter Bonnie, step-son Bryan, six grandchildren Jacquelyn, Tommy, Brigette, Shane, Kaitlin and Devin as well as two great-grandchildren, Derek and Gianna.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 am till 10:15 am, Wednesday December 16, 2009 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00am Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W. Charlotte Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A Memorial Service will be held in Youngstown, Ohio at a later date. The family has requested memorial donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, ATTN: Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, PO BOX 780, New York, NY 10008.
