
Vernon R Osborn, 83, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away from his battle with cancer December 30, 2018 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. He was born February 2, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio to Alva and Naoma Osborn. He served in the US Air Force as well as the Army National Guard. He worked as a Union Carpenter before retiring in 1978.
Vernon was involved in many clubs and organizations. Some of these included the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the American Legion, as well as the Honor Guard.
Some of Vernon’s hobbies included fishing, riding his Harley with his fellow Moose Riders, shooting pool, and taking his boat out on the Peace River.
Naoma Bjorkgren, Vernon’s eldest daughter, had passed away May 10th, 2012, but he is survived by his children, Douglas Hawn, Betty Rotering, David Osborn as well as 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Lois “Jean” Osborn who passed away February 27, 2010. Together they shared 53 happy years of marriage as well as 4 children.
Vernon’s services are being held at the Sarasota National Cemetery January 25th at 9:30am. His family, friends and fellow bike riders are departing from the Punta Gorda Moose Lodge 1693 at 8:00am. His family welcomes anyone who knew Vernon to join them in having one last ride as they lay him and his beloved wife to rest. His celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda, January 26th from 12:00 - 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The National Foundation for Cancer Research as well as local homeless coalitions.
