Ogie was born on February 18, 1948, in Aliaga, Philippines, one of eight siblings in a close-knit family. His early years were filled with the bonds of family and friendships that shaped the generous and joyful man he became.
On September 20,1975, Ogie married his high school sweetheart, Amor, and that same year also marked a big move from the Philippines to Montreal, Quebec, where they built a new life filled with courage, hard work, and adventure.
Ogie and Amor raised two sons, Ryan and Augusto Jr., and later welcomed their daughters-in-law, Pricilla and Heather, into the family. His heart was fullest when he became Lolo to his beloved grandchildren; Bella, Mia, and Kjell. His “Apos” brought him endless joy and pride. Watching them play sports or take part in their activities was truly his happy place.
A true jack of all trades and your Filipino MacGiver, Ogie could fix anything with anything. He was known as a mechanic, cook, fisherman and jokester with endless stories. He loved good food, good drinks, and a great deal. Nothing would go to waste with Ogie around.
Ogie and Amor shared a deep love for dancing. Whether in parks, at parties, or on cruises, they were never without their dancing shoes, moving through life together with grace and rhythm.
He was always ready to lend a helping hand, share a meal, or welcome you with his warm smile and kind heart. Ogie leaves behind a legacy of generosity, craftsmanship, and unconditional love. His spirit will live on in all who were blessed to know him in every story shared, every meal cooked, and every dance still to come.
A funeral service for Augusto will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady of the Assumption, 3141 Shaughnessy St, Port Coquitlam, BC V3B 4L3.
