Chris lived a full life and loved being a father and husband. He was big brother to Elizabeth (Michael), and uncle to Thomas and Vanessa. He was brother-in-law to Kelly and honorary uncle to Michael (Jessica) and son-in-law to Mike and Carol. Chris was pre-deceased by his parents, David and Mary.
Chris died suddenly and peacefully of a heart attack in his sleep. We are finding comfort in knowing that he spent his last day doing what he loved; playing a few games of pickleball, having a pint with his friends and hanging out with his wife and son, David. He would hate all of this fuss and those who knew him know that he would tell us that “it is what it is” and go live our lives. As we will all come together in remembering him and supporting his family and friends may we find a moment of comfort, pause and inspiration from the locker room exit phrase of his beloved Habs, “To you from failing hands, we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high.” Chris has thrown the torch to all of us who knew him and may his legacy live on in each of us to live in the moment, have a good laugh, keep a close circle of good friends and work hard for what you want in life. Just like all the legendary Canadiens who have found inspiration in those words, Chris was a legendary man to all of us who were privileged to know and love him. (And he’d want me to share that speaking of legendary, the Habs have won 24 Stanley Cups and ahem…yes the Leafs only 13!)
Thank you to our amazing circle of friends, too many to mention, who have wrapped David and I up in love and support that we will be forever grateful for all the things you’ve done to help us get this far in this unexpected journey we find ourselves.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to KidsSport BC in Chris’ name as Chris loved being a hockey, baseball and golf Dad and would want as many kids and families to experience sport as possible.
