It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Tinah on October, 19th 2025.
Born in Manila, Philippines on January 3, 1951, she was the fourth of six children to Eduarda and Conrado Penales, all of whom lovingly survive her. After studying nursing, she courageously left her home country to pursue new opportunities abroad, eventually making her way to Vancouver, Canada, where she built a life and career defined by compassion and service.
A Registered Nurse for over 40 years, she dedicated the majority of her career to the Royal Columbian Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where she cared for countless newborns and their families with tenderness, skill, and unwavering dedication. Her coworkers and patients alike will remember her for her humor, warmth, and grace.
Outside of her work, she filled her days with joy—dancing, singing along to classic rock, chatting about movies and sports, and laughing at every opportunity. In her retirement, she embraced her love of travel and food, often sharing stories and new discoveries with family and friends. She took immense delight in recommending (and occasionally insisting on) her latest TV show obsession to her daughter Christa and son-in-law Nate.
Above all, her greatest joy was her role as Lola to her four beloved grandchildren—Greyson, Gage, Georgia, and Genevieve—who brought her endless pride and happiness. Her love, laughter, and generosity will continue to live on through them and all who were blessed to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the light she brought to every room, every conversation, and every heart she touched.
A Funeral Mass for Cristina Myers will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption, located at 3141 Shaughnessy St, Port Coquitlam, BC, V3B 4L3, Canada. The service is scheduled for November 6, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Following the service, a reception will take place in the Reception Room at Our Lady of Assumption, starting at 12:00 pm on the same day.
