Dale was born on May 18, 1942, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and moved to British Columbia as a young child. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Bill Carter, as well as Harvey Liddle (1944).
Dale dedicated the majority of his professional life to BC Tel, where he built a distinguished and respected career. He retired as Vice President of Mobility Services and played an instrumental role in introducing cellular services to British Columbia. His leadership and vision helped shape the province’s telecommunications landscape, leaving a lasting legacy in the industry. Throughout his career, Dale lived and worked in many communities across British Columbia, including Vancouver, Cranbrook, Nelson, Nanaimo, Mission, Abbotsford, and Burnaby, where he concluded his career.
He is survived by his wife, Geri; his daughters, Kelly (Hiroshi) and Leslie (Arlindo); and Geri’s children, Koko and Kevin (Alison). Dale was a proud grandfather to Connor (Chantelle), Regan (Herb), Jade, and Jasper, and a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his brother, John (Vicki), as well as many extended family members and friends.
Dale spent many years as a dedicated community volunteer. He was an active member of DeMolay, the Masons, and the Shrine, and he also served as Associate Bethel Guardian for Job’s Daughters International in Abbotsford. He especially treasured the opportunity to attend meetings and events alongside his father, Bill. Through these organizations, Dale built lasting friendships and meaningful connections throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
In retirement, Dale developed a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time in Palm Springs, listening to music, and, true to form, never lost his love of ice cream.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Cottage Pavilion for their care and kindness over the past year and a half. During this time, Dale enjoyed visiting with staff and residents, playing the drums and handbells, and delighting others with his rendition of “Hey Good Lookin’” at the Cottage/Worthington talent show.
In keeping with Dale’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Those wishing to honour his memory are invited to do so through acts of kindness or by making a donation in his name to a charity of their choice.
