Dianne Carol Woodward November 1943 - July 2015 It is with great sadness we announce that Dianne Carol Woodward (nee Dunlop) passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. She leaves behind her husband of 50 years Chips (Robert) Woodward, her mother Ada Dunlop (Frank), her daughters Tige Rains (Jeff) and Erin Tack (Marcel), and her beloved grandchildren Paige, Max, Scott, and Danielle. She also leaves her sisters Sandy Freedman (David) and Debbie McDougall and her brother Cliff Dunlop (Willy) and many loving nieces and nephews. Dianne was born in England and moved as an infant with her war-bride mother to Canada. She saw a great deal of this country as her father, an early TCA and later Air Canada employee, moved wherever he was needed in order to support the new airline.Dianne initially stayed home after she married to raise her daughters. As they grew, she returned to university to earn both her bachelors degree and masters degree in education. Dianne served her entire 25 year career in the Coquitlam School District. First as a teacher at Cedar Drive Elementary and finally as the principal of Glen Elementary. Dianne was a warm, enthusiastic, and highly competent educator which earned her the respect of her students and their parents and her colleagues. She loved her job and was vocal about the importance of a strong public education system as part of a healthy and equitable society.Once retired, Dianne continued her passion for education as an Associate with the UBC Teacher Education Program and then moved on to become a BC Marriage Commissioner- a "job" which she found to be great fun.Slowing down, finally, she spent the past several years focussed on her interests and passions and hobbies. She enjoyed a lot of active time as "Ya-Ya" to her four beloved grandchildren. She quilted, golfed, read, decorated, took in many cultural events and pursued her intellectual interests through non-credit univerisity courses. Traveling with her huband and their friends was a great pleasure for Dianne. She was able to return to England where it all began with her mother and she fulfilled her life-long dream of seeing the Egyptian Pyramids on a special trip with her two sisters.Dianne was a lady whose energy and determination and warmth touched many. Although her time here was too short, she lived her life well. She loved and was loved deeply and will be missed terribly by her entire family forever.Thank-you to the doctors and staff at Eagle Ridge Hospital and McKenny Creek Hospice for the empathetic care and respect Dianne was given. All the family is greatly appreciative of your help.A memorial service for Dianne will be held at Burkeview Chapel, 1340 Dominion Ave., Port Coquitlam, BC at 11:00 am Saturday, August 8, 2015.In lieu of flowers, please donate to the BC Cancer Society in memory of Dianne. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/vancouversun/obituary.aspx?n=Dianne-Carol-Woodward&pid=175413033#sthash.TuTos58q.dpuf
