Doreen Mary Peniuk

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on August 20, 2026.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Frances Barwick; brothers Bill and Robert; and her husband of 62 years, Walter. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Susan Peniuk and Diane Borovica (Jurgen), and grandchildren, Brendan Borovica and Hannah Borovica.

Doreen was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple, Auxiliary of the Elks of Canada, for over 50 years, where she touched the lives of many friends along the way. She was also an active walker, raising funds for cancer research for over 15 years with her daughter Diane through the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Doreen loved to camp and fish alongside her husband and enjoyed many camping trips with her family over the years. Later in life, she took great joy in her grandchildren, with many sleepovers and playdates.

Doreen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.

A huge thank you to St. Michael’s Centre for opening their hearts to Doreen during her last months, as well as a heartfelt thank you to Karen, Doreen’s earth angel, who guided her through to the end with love and compassion.

No service will be held at this time. Donations in Doreen’s memory are welcome to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.

Continue traditions, no matter how small
