It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie VanOs who left us on August 13th at the age of 96. Born on January 4, 1928, in Rose Valley Saskatchewan to Alexander and Ethel Hamilton, Marie lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and family.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marie touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth. To Marie, friends were family and family were friends. Everyone was welcome in her home and her hospitality was legendary. You could always count on some fresh baking, an endless supply of coffee and of course a game or two of cards when visiting. She was beating her opponents in crib well into her nineties all with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Her legacy will live on through the countless cherished memories she created with family and friends.
Marie is survived by her four children, Doug and daughter in law Karen, Brian, Don, Barbara Dolman, and son-in law Don. She will also be missed by the lights of her life, her 11 grandchildren Gayle, Gary, Jennifer, Tobe, Jill, Sarah, Hannah, Emma, Turner, Lucas and Cassidy and their partners as well as her great-grandchildren Charlie, Brandon, Peter, Nikaya, Ella, Quade, Neve, Taylin, Sydney, Eli, Theo and James. She leaves to mourn her sister Pat and brother Al and sister-in-law Belinda and countless nieces and nephews on both the Hamilton and VanOs side of the family.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life for 72 years, her husband James Van Os, as well as her older brothers Scott and Bill.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday October 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Burkview Chapel 1340 Dominion Ave Pt. Coquitlam In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Charity of your choice in her honor.
Special thanks to the nursing team and care aids at Maple Ridge Senior Village for their kindness and caring in assisting our mother in her last years.
We are grateful for the years we had with her and will miss her dearly. May she rest in peace, knowing she has left a lasting mark on our hearts, and we are happy knowing she has been reunited with our dad Jim.
