Born on April 5th 1937 in Birch River, Manitoba, to William and Ethel Kyle, Jean’s early years were spent in Novra, MB. When she was four years old, the family moved west to Burnaby, BC, which became the setting for her childhood.
In 1956, Jean married the love of her life, Wayne McIntosh. Together, they moved to Coquitlam to the house they built that Jean was happy and proud to call home for the rest of her days.
Jean was the epitome of an active, vibrant spirit. She embraced life with enthusiasm, participating in many different sports. She was an accomplished golfer who celebrated THREE holes-in-one! She was also a talented knitter and the non-profit BabyGoRound benefited from her donation of 137 baby sweaters and toque sets, as well as numerous knitted animals. Through all her activities she forged friendships that lasted a lifetime.
After retirement, Jean and Wayne enjoyed exploring the world together including China, Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, river cruises in the US and Europe. They also became dedicated snowbirds spending many happy winters in Hemet, California.
She will be remembered for her infectious positivity and her plentiful home-cooked meals with backups in the fridge! Her world-famous cinnamon buns, which were a staple at family gatherings, will be missed enormously, however, the secret recipe is no longer a secret because it’s been shared with great-grandkids. Jean’s legacy to her family is handwritten, tried and true favorite recipes from generations past. She also crafted Christmas shadowboxes for each family adding a new miniature piece every Christmas which had to be found by family members.
Jean frequently expressed her gratitude, often remarking on how lucky she was to have lived such a wonderful life with a wonderful family.
Jean was predeceased by Wayne in 2016. She leaves behind her son Craig (Donna), daughter Shelley (David), her grandchildren Kimberly (Dave), Blaine (Meghan) and Riley (Nana), her great grandchildren, Piper, Ramona, Jasper, Felix, Milo and Remi. She is also survived by her brother Kelvin Kyle. Jean will be missed by all.
Special thank you to Mom’s wonderful neighbours, the care from her GP Dr. Grootendorst and Dr. Lueke and his team at BC Cancer-Surrey.
