Joan Weekes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Weekes, who left us peacefully on October 23, 2025, just shy of her 94th birthday. Born in Birkenhead, Merseyside, England, on November 3, 1931, Joan lived a life rich in family, community, and creative pursuits.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill, in 1993. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Steve (Phyllis) and David (Sawa); her grandchildren, Andrew (Alia), Noah, and Joshua; and her great-grandson, Bentley.

In October 1973, Joan and her family embarked on a new adventure, emigrating to Canada and settling in Deep Cove, where they joined her cousin Gordon and his family. Joan dedicated 24 years of her professional life as an Insurance Broker at Fawcett Insurance, retiring in 1998. Following her retirement, she moved to Coquitlam, embracing a vibrant new chapter.

Joan had a deep love for music, which she expressed through singing with various seniors' groups. Her compassionate spirit led her to volunteer for many years at Dufferin Care Home, bringing comfort and companionship to its residents. A proud member of the Glen Pine Community Center, she found joy in crafting with fellow members. Joan was a truly artistic soul, particularly enjoying the creation of beautiful handmade cards.

Joan will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

At Joan's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society, a cause close to her heart.
