Jun 2, 1941 – Nov 17, 2025
Karen Rose-Ellen Dobson passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 84. Her life was marked by humble beginnings, young eternal love, family, and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Babe and Dorothy Willey and husband George “Ted” Dobson. Survived by sons Brent (Cathy) and Dale (Neil), grandson Jason (mother Lisa) as well as sister Dawn “Peachie” Urban and her family.
Karen was born in Vancouver but she grew up, married and raised her family in Port Coquitlam, which she loved. Over the years Karen was involved with: Cub Scouts, 5 pin bowling, square dancing, Roadrunners (RV travel group) and when a widow: Honeycombs (singing group), Red Hatters, and at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre: cards, bingo and carpet bowling. She loved the PCCC and served on the senior advisory board - pushing the limits of her comfort level and what she thought she was capable of.
Karen was open to all and cherished time with others. She was always looking for something to do and someone to do it with, usually being the first to say let’s play cards or go for a walk. The Donald trail was her usual stomping grounds.
Over the years she worked at Ted's Radio & TV, Cortina Foods, AGS, and as a Costco demo lady. She always enjoyed the people she worked with.
She loved to travel with family and friends. Her many trips included a cross Canada RV trip, Alaska, Reno, Hawaii, New Orleans, Hong Kong, many cruises, travel and fishing trips around BC.
In lieu of flowers, Karen would encourage donations to the Terry Fox Foundation.
There will be a celebration of life Friday December 12 from 2-5pm at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre 2150 Wilson Ave, Port Coquitlam BC.
