Michael John Thorp

Mike was known for his tough exterior, but anyone lucky enough to really know him saw right through it to his huge, generous heart—and was usually on the receiving end of his lightning-fast wit. He had a way of delivering the sharpest, funniest comment in the room with a straight face, only to follow it up with quiet, steadfast support whenever you needed him most.

He was at his absolute happiest near the water, whether boating, taking road trips in his sports cars, or simply enjoying life with family and friends, without any unnecessary fuss. In keeping with the life he loved and lived on his own terms, there will be no funeral service. Instead, we are honoring his final wish to return him to the sea, scattering his ashes across the waves in a private family moment.

Whenever you hear the surf, look out at the horizon, or crack a dry joke that catches everyone off guard, think of him.
