Myra Lynn Currie, age 78, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at Cartier House in Coquitlam, BC, following a long and brave battle with dementia. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cartier House for the exceptional and compassionate care she received throughout her stay.
Born in Lacombe, Alberta, on January 25, 1948, to George and Myra Mae Currie, Lynn grew up with a vibrant spirit. In high school, she excelled as an athlete, enjoying basketball and volleyball before graduating in 1966.
That same year, Lynn married Roy Fearon, then a fourth-year dental cadet student. Over 28 years of marriage, they built a life together and raised four children. For 12 years, they lived on an acreage near Camrose, where Lynn managed two successful teams—at the Camrose City Bakery and at Dr. Roy Fearon’s dental practice. Though their marriage ended, Myra Lynn and Roy maintained a close and meaningful friendship throughout the years.
Throughout her life, Myra Lynn lived in Lacombe, Edmonton, Camrose, and Vancouver. She was a woman who embraced change as a vital constant and constantly sought out new adventures, learning, and growth. Possessing a naturally high level of empathy and insight (gestalt), she loved helping others develop and served as a guide and mentor to many friends and family members working toward their goals. Always active and engaged, she enjoyed public speaking, reading, organizing, traveling, entertaining, planning family gatherings, sewing, playing bridge, skiing, dancing, and walking.
Later in life, she pursued higher education, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in her 50s. She worked as a financial planner at a bank before relocating to British Columbia to serve as an au pair for her daughter Bonnie. Driven by her passion for helping others, Myra Lynn subsequently trained to support students with dyslexia and worked in group homes supporting individuals with special needs. During her years in BC, she shared meaningful companionship with two long-term partners, Jack Obst and Thomas Reynolds.
Myra Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, George and Myra; two of her siblings, Jimmy and Barbara, who passed away at a young age; her first husband, Dr. Roy Fearon; her brother-in-law Robert Hein; her sister-in-law, Deb Fralick; and her partner, Thomas Reynolds.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her siblings Lee Currie (Deb) and Heather Wiley (Jim); her four children and their families:
Robert Roy Fearon (Michelle) and granddaughter Caitlin
Bonnie Mae Sydora (Doug) and grandchildren Emma and Jack
Wendy Elizabeth Fearon Tjelflaat (Gaute)
Cinda Lee-Ann Fearon and grandchildren Amanda Lynn (Chris; great-grandchildren Cooper, Jackson and Paisley), Tanner (Makayla), Gracie, Charlie, and Hunter
Beyond her immediate family, Myra leaves behind a wide network of extended family members, former colleagues, and cherished friends who will remember her warmth, mentorship, and adventurous spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Myra’s honor to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
