Pieter Daniel Swart

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Peter (Pieter) Daniel Swart on March 25, 2024, after his third battle with cancer at the age of 77 years.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Charlotte (nee Kimble); daughter, Lee-Ann (Ray); son, Bradley (Kelly); step-son, Gordon Thornton and his grandchildren, Joshua and Isaiah.

Peter was born and raised in Durban, South Africa and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1987. In Canada, he enjoyed his career as a fire safety technician and spending time with his fellow colleagues until his retirement in 2017. He was a hard worker in all aspects of his life and his hard working hands became a symbol of strength as we held them over his last few days.

Peter was passionate about spending time with his family and his dogs. He was strong, warm, caring and extremely loyal to his family and friends with an infectious and witty sense of humour. He was generous with his time, always willing to help but never asking anything in return.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, birds, and travelling and camping throughout British Columbia, Alberta and the US. Pete was an avid rock music fan, ACDC and Rolling Stones being two of his favourite bands

The family will be arranging a private celebration of life to be held at a later date.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff on 2West at Ridge Meadows Hospital for their care and compassion towards Peter.
