It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Steven Turnell, affectionately known as Steve, who passed peacefully on September 2, 2026 after a courageous yet short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his wife, children, grandson and loved ones.
Steve was born April 25, 1960 at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. Steve was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, papa, brother, father-in-law, Uncle and
Friend.. He leaves behind his loving wife Dianna; his daughter Courtney, his stepchildren, Jordan and Taylor, son in laws Spencer and Calum and his beloved grandson Brodie who brought an immeasurable amount of joy and pride to his life.
Steve was the son of Ernie and Beverly Turnell, brother to Brad and Nancy Turnell and Darlene and Trever Delaney.
Steve was a hard-working man in every sense of the word, Steve dedicated 25 years to Fountain Tire, and eventually where he became Manager/Owner in the Coquitlam Fountain Tire Store. Steve was well respected in his industry, his hard work was rewarded with many memorable trips and adventures, and enjoyed attending numerous conventions across Canada building lasting memories and friendships along the way. After many years of hard work and commitment, Steve had been planning to retire from his position in early 2027.
Steve was the kind of person who never took a day off, never hesitated to lend a hand, and could fix just about anything. To his family and friends, he was simply
"Mr. Fix-it" the person you called when something needed fixing, figuring out, or just getting it done. He was there.
Steve was tough, determined, and incredibly proud of the life he had built. Outside of work he loved hockey, creating anything out of wood, listening to his favorite music, and playing Golf. Enjoying weekend getaways to his trailer in Harrison Holiday Park with his wife Dianna. Those trips gave him the chance to finally slow down, put his feet up, relax and enjoy a cold Bud Light - simple moments that brought him happiness and peace. Most of all he loved his time with family and friends.
Some of his most cherished moments were spend playing road hockey with his grandson Brodie. These memories will be treasured forever.
In July 2026, Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain. Steve was a fighter a fighter to the end, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him more than words can say.
Steve often reminded his family to "Love the Life you live- so you can live the life you love". He didn't just say those words he lived by them. He worked hard, loved fiercely, showed up for people who needed him, found joy in the things and people that mattered most.
66 years wasn't long enough, Steve filled those years with a lifetime of memories, laugher, hard work, love, and lessons that will remain with his family and friends
Forever.
His hands may no longer be here to fix things, his voice may no longer be there to offer advice, and his place beside us may forever feel empty. But the love he
Gave, the memories he created, and the life he taught us to live will never leave us.
Steve will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever carried in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to call him Dad, Papa, Grandpa, husband, brother, stepdad, Uncle and Friend.
