It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Robert Lees on February 28, 2025, at the age of 87. He was a beloved father to Nancy (Grant) and Michael (wife Nichole), and a proud grandfather to Cole, Kate, and Brooklyn. Predeceased by his cherished wife, Carolyn Lees (née White), in 2012, Tom is now reunited with his one true love and his beloved furry best friend, Fergus. He is also reunited with his sister, Clara Maxwell (nee Lees).
Born on September 29, 1937, Tom was a dreamer and adventurer who lived life to the fullest. His decades-long career at Richardson Greenshields Inc. offered not only professional success but opportunities for bold adventures, including relocating his family to Hong Kong from 1971 to 1977—a chapter filled with growth, exploration, and unforgettable memories. He later returned to his hometown of Winnipeg for many years before relocating to the west coast to be closer to family.
A romantic at heart, Tom was also a deeply kind and gentle soul. He was the father who rested his hand on his newborn’s chest to ensure everything was okay, never complained about 4:30 a.m. pool drop-offs, and warmed freezing feet after outdoor ringette and hockey games. Known for his corny puns, infectious humor, and love of a good glass of wine, Tom brought joy and warmth to every gathering, always making sure his glass wasn’t empty.
Tom’s connection with his dogs—Princess, Misty, and Fergus—was another reflection of his boundless love and gentle nature. His furry companions held a special place in his heart, bringing him comfort and happiness through every stage of life.
Tom’s legacy of kindness, humor, and adventurous spirit will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
