MACKINTOSH, William
Feb. 26, 1946 – May 29, 2023
With heartfelt sorrow we announce the passing of William (Bill/Tosh/Pow Pow) MacKintosh at Langley Hospice after a long battle with cancer. Bill was born in Dingwall, Scotland and in 1967, with some close friends, he relocated to British Columbia where he started his career at BC Tel. Bill dedicated 30 years of service from Technician to the high rank of General Manager of Engineering in Burnaby. During his career he was hugely involved in many aspects of his work, including first aid competitions and achieved multiple awards. He was very proud of his role as the Operations Manager in initiating the Cellular Network. He met the love of his life, Louise, and in 1971 they married. They enjoyed a beautiful 52 years together where they loved spending all their time with each other, their family and friends. His children, Allan and Janice, and all his Grandchildren; Ian, Daylen, Emily, Dessa and Owen were the highlights of his life. He spent many years coaching his children in baseball and soccer and was the biggest fan at his kids and Grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. Tosh was a talented, competitive soccer player who also enjoyed many other activities including golf and Scottish Country Dancing with his wife. Tosh and Louise travelled extensively to many beautiful places around the world and went back home to Scotland several times to visit his special family. Bill retired at an early age of 52 to reduce stress and await a non-compatible kidney transplant which took place in 2012 where his wife Louise was his non-compatible donor. During his retirement he was a Marshal at the Peace Portal Golf Course and volunteered as a driver for the Cancer Society. Bill/Tosh/Pow Pow is survived by his wife (Louise), his children Allan (Karlene), Janice (Ryan), 5 Grandchildren: Ian, Daylen, Emily, Dessa and Owen, brother Alex (Carol), sister Lena (Archie) and many cousins, nieces and nephews in Scotland and England. He will be deeply missed by everyone as he was a brilliant man with a great sense of humor and wit. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Kidney Foundation appreciated. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
