It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband father and grandfather who lost his long fight against congestive heart failure in the gentle surroundings of the Crossroads Hospice where the staff and volunteers made his final journey so much easier.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Alison; brother Ted (Gerlind); sons Adrian (Kate) and Anton (Gillian); daughter Iona (Adrian)and grandchildren Cora, Mateo and Stella.
He was a true Renaissance man, not only a gifted doctor, whose knowledge and compassion helped so many, but also a linguist, musician, photographer, athlete, and a published writer of medical books: The Malalignment Syndrome (translated into Korean) and more recently, the layman's version, Read My Hips. In recognition of his work, he was invited to present to doctors and chiropractors in many parts of the world, including New Zealand and Korea.
His thoroughness and dedication also served him well in his other pursuits such as marathon running, mountain climbing, and more recently his participation in the German men's choir.
As a husband and father, he was caring, funny and thoughtful; supporting his wife's theatrical activities and engaging fully with his children and grandchildren in all their interests
One of his main loves in life were his dogs, usually the size of small horses, with whom he ran and who occasionally caused him some broken bones!
Sadly, the last part of his life was cramped by illness which he fought bravely to overcome. He was a quiet, unassuming hero to so many and will be sorely missed.
