Arthur "Sonny" Leon Besaw Jr.

Arthur “Sonny” Leon Besaw, Jr., 81, passed away on April 11, 2026, after courageously facing many illnesses throughout his life. He found his well-deserved peace surrounded by love and the memories he cherished most.

Arthur was a strong, resilient man who lived life on his own terms. He was known for his toughness, his humor, and the deep love he had for his family. More than anything, he valued connection, loyalty, and time spent with those closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Arthur Besaw, Sr; his daughter, Veronica Besaw; and his sister, Beverly Edwards.

He is survived by his sister, Darlene Besaw Ross (Roger) as well as his children: Chern Valerio, Becki (Jason) Hodge, and Jada (Michael) Fitzpatrick.

Arthur was a proud grandfather to Tracey, Devin, Nicholas, Christopher, Brittany, Bianca, Savannah, Riley, Aryan, Michael, and Grace, along with seven great-grandchildren.

In his final days, Arthur found the greatest comfort and joy in the presence of those who stood by him with unwavering love and dedication. He shared especially meaningful moments with his granddaughter, Bianca, and her partner Justin whose support and care meant so much to him. He also cherished time with his great-grandchildren, Braxton and Nirvana, whose presence could light up his entire day.

Arthur’s life was one of strength, perseverance, and quiet love. He leaves behind a legacy that will live on through the memories shared by those who truly knew and loved him.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family at Chenango Valley Cemetery.
