Benita M. Sickles

Benita Marie (Flipse) Sickles passed away at home on Saturday, June 11, 2016. Born June 13, 1949 to parents, Peter Flipse and Egberdina VanderHorst, Benita lived most of her childhood in the Vestal, NY along with her five younger brothers. She graduated from Vestal High School in 1967, and later achieved her business degree from Broome Community College while employed at NYSEG. Benita is survived by her husband, Gary L. Sickles; son, Frank George III, son, Todd Sickles; brothers, Michael Flipse, Daniel Flipse, Peter (Robin) Flipse, Joseph (Rosie) Flipse, Scott (Karen) Flipse, sister, Barbara Seager; grandchildren, Veronica Geroge, Brittany George, Courtney George, Nolan Sickles, Collin Sickles, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and son, Scott Sickles. After a long 30 year career at NYSEG, she enjoyed her last 15 years caring for her grandchildren and entertaining numerous friends from far and wide at her Page Lake home. Frequently taking winter vacations in Florida, Benita and Gary recently took the plunge and acquired an island condominium to avoid the cold winters of northeast Pennsylvania. Always possessing a bubbly personality Benita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was most generous to family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson. A funeral service will be Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 1:30 pm at the funeral home with burial to follow in Chenango Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy my be made to the Women's Resource Center, PO Box 202, Montrose, PA 18801 or the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 436, New Milford, Pa 18834.
