

Blanche Stento passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the age of 89 surrounded by her family. She was a “one of a kind” woman who had an indomitable spirit. She will continue to be an inspiration to all those that knew her. No matter what life served her, she would get back up on that proverbial horse and go forward. Born Marie Blanche Credeur on March 7, 1923 in Cankton, LA to Louise Mouton and Eugene Credeur, she was the oldest of 6 children. In 1944, she met and married Thomas J. Stento who was stationed in Ft. Polk, LA and then moved to Binghamton. Her husband Thomas predeceased her in February 1990. Blanche had 9 children. She is predeceased by 2 daughters, Frances Smedley and DiAnne Holten; 2 brothers, Wesley and Essie Credeur. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Angela Hawkins and Sal Mantegna, Sausalito, CA; Frank and Roxanne Stento, Endicott, NY; Mary and George Kocyan, Whitinsville, MA; Kathy Lobez, Deposit, NY; Tom and Ruth Stento, Jonestown, TX; Betsy Forster and Bruce O’Brien, Endwell, NY; Robert Stento and Kim Brown, Newark Valley, NY. She was a grandmother to 9 grandchildren and great grandmother to a beautiful boy and girl. Also, she is survived by a sister, Ruby Thibodeaux, San Antonio, TX; brother and sister-in-law, George and Marjorie Credeur, Lafayette, LA; brother, Percy Credeur, LA.
The Stento Family will receive family and friends at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 4 to 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 9:30 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
